The excitement level was high at Propel BHHS, as students, families, faculty, judges and guests celebrated the spirit of entrepreneurship!
The 2016 Student Business Plan Competition attracted 18 total entries from middle- and high school students. Three entries (selected as finalists) and their creators gave ‘the big pitch’ to judges on the evening of April 7, 2016.
Our WINNING entry: “The Garden Barbers” – Propel McKeesport — This group of 5 enthusiastic young men have a goal of making McKeesport more beautiful — one lawn at a time! Their $1,000 prize is earmarked for additional supplies, insurance and advertising.
Our SECOND PLACE winner: “The Crafty Little Duck” – Propel East — This individual entrepreneur’s existing business will be sure to ‘stick’ with you! Wallets, pens and posters made from colorful duct tape are the unique items that comprise this business. The $200 prize will come in handy for craft fair fees, supplies and advertising.
Our THIRD PLACE winners: “Date Night Sitters” – Propel Homestead — This entrepreneurial duo’s plan for weekend babysitting services will find good use their $100 prize by restocking kid-friendly supplies.
