On March 4th and 5th, four 5th grade students from Propel Montour participated in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Elementary Music Festivals. These festivals incorporated 135 students in 5th and 6th grade from 60 elementary and middle schools from parts of Allegheny and Washington counties.
Aniya Hall and Sarah Gallogly participated in PMEA Elementary Sing Fest West hosted at Baldwin-Whitehall School District. The students received their music 2 months prior to the festival and rehearsed at home and at school. This one day festival offered different workshops and techniques for students to use during choir class and culminated with a concert open to the public.
Pamela Smith and Matthew Tennant participated in PMEA Elementary Band Fest West hosted at Hampton Middle School. The students, also, received their music 2 months prior to the festival and rehearsed at home and at school. This two day festival offered students the chance to perform challenging music with instruments not found in our school band. A concert was performed for family and friends on Saturday afternoon.
This was a great opportunity for our Propel Montour students to showcase their musical talent. They can’t wait to participate again next year!
