Winter Weather Policy
(As of November 3, 2011)
Unfortunately, the winter season will soon be here. Last year, after careful thought and consideration, and taking into account the safety and welfare of our students and staff, we changed our inclement weather cancellation and delay policy. In the past, we have never had a delay, as we have based our school closing on that of the Steel Valley District. This will no longer be the case.
- Administration will now institute a 2 hour delay for severe inclement weather. Please watch the three major television stations (KDKA, WTAE and WPXI) and/or listen to KDKA radio for Propel Homestead to be listed.
- If Propel Homestead has a 2 hour delay, the doors will open at 9:45AM. If your children walk to school, or are dropped off, please understand that they will not be permitted to enter the building before this time.
- If the school district in which you live has a 2 hour delay, and Propel Homestead does not have a 2 hour delay, your child’s bus will still arrive 2 hours later than the original pickup time. If this occurs, your child’s tardy will be excused.
- If the school district in which you live closes and Propel Homestead remains open, the district will not provide transportation for your child to Propel Homestead. Your child will have an excused absence.
- Please watch the local news and /or listen to KDKA radio for updates regarding school delays and closings. If we do close, we will call KDKA, WTAE and WPXI. We are asking that you do not call the main office regarding closing information.
- Parents will also be notified by phone through the ALERT NOW system. Please make sure your contact information is up to date.
Thanks for your continued support,
Mr. Robert Bischoff Dr. Exley Warren
Principal Associate Principal
