HOUSE PARTY!!! Friday, September 2 at 1:30pm
We are excited to inform you that Propel Northside is implementing a new comprehensive bullying prevention/social and emotional school wide program this year called Project TEAM. Project TEAM is research based programming developed in partnership with the College of Education at Penn State University and aims to improve our school’s climate and culture, making sure all students feel connected and part of the TEAM! Project TEAM will bring our school together, helping our students understand the value of working as a team. Our programming will be felt in all parts of our school. Throughout the year, students will learn the 6 foundations of Project TEAM: Helping Others, Positive Change, Anti-Bullying, Problem Solving, Resiliency and Leadership.
Students will gain an understanding of what the foundations are, why they are important and how to implement them in their lives in and out of school. Students will be reinforced with these important messages through classroom lessons, receiving tickets from all staff, and popular songs relating to the foundations played over the loud speakers. There are Project TEAM characters to go along with the foundations and the characters are also used to help students learn about careers. The Project TEAM House is a symbol for all students; it represents unity, acceptance and teamwork. When we say “Are you in the house?” we are expecting that students are using the foundations and acting in positive ways to help and encourage everyone around them.
As we believe this program has great potential in our community in addition to our school, we would like to cordially invite you to Propel Northside’s official Project TEAM Kick-Off event on Friday, September 2nd at Propel Northside located at 1805 Buena Vista Street. The first assembly will begin at approximately 1:30. We hope you will join us on this journey as we introduce students to this powerful new life skill-building tool and witness the results. We are thrilled to partner with Penn State on this important initiative and look forward to creating a school-wide TEAM that will help create a positive school culture for all of our students.
