Propel schools are dynamic places where teachers, families, students and community partners work toward one central focus: the academic achievement of our children. Each Propel school collaborates with local community leaders, businesses and organizations in a united effort to create and maintain their neighborhoods as great places to live and work. Spanning Allegheny County, there are currently ten Propel schools.

Propel ANDREW STREET HIGH SCHOOL

Propel ANDREW STREET is Propel Schools' first high school, opening in 2008 and located in Munhall PA, across from the Carnegie Library of Homestead. The school serves students in grades 9-12. Propel ANDREW STREET is a new model of secondary education in Pittsburgh, tailored for serious, self-motivated students that are committed to taking a positive, active role in their education. The high school offers a small learning community averaging 50 students at each grade level, and full time, multi-age advisories. A focus on active student engagement through personal learning plans, project based learning and workforce development encourages growth and depth of a school community. Students are required to fulfill a number of graduation requirements that include 80 hours of community service, completing one dual enrollment or extended internship and writing an autobiography.

Propel BRADDOCK HILLS Elementary

Propel BRADDOCK HILLS Elementary opened in August 2010 and will serves students in grades K - 8.  Propel BRADDOCK HILLS Elementary, a Smart Showcase school, features a new KaBoom! playground, and is located in a beautifully renovated building just off of Ardmore Boulevard.

Propel BRADDOCK HILLS High School opened in August 2010 and serves grades 9 - 12. Propel BRADDOCK HILLS High School, a school of Innovation and Design, is a Smart Showcase school located in a beautifully renovated building just off of Ardmore Boulevard.

Propel EAST

Propel EAST has been open since 2005. The school is located in Turtle Creek, PA and serves 400 students in grades K-8. Propel EAST has earned the state's Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) designation every year of its operation and three Keystone Achievement Awards. Propel EAST also has an intense focus on providing its students with a holistic education. Propel East is the recent recipient of both the Charles Gray Award in 2011, for excellence in arts education, and was recognized as a Top Music Community in the nation, via the NAMM Foundation. Annual events such as the Arts Festival and Science Olympiad, in addition to varied partnerships with community organizations, makes Propel EAST a fun and engaging place for students and parents.

Propel HAZELWOOD

Propel HAZELWOOD, opening in August, 2014, is the tenth school in the Propel family.  In the 2015/16 school year, HAZELWOOD will serve students in grades K – 5, adding subsequent grade levels with each academic year.  Propel is excited to be an addition to the Hazelwood community.

Propel HOMESTEAD

Propel HOMESTEAD is located just blocks from the Waterfront area in Homestead, PA and serves 400 students in grades K-8. The school has enjoyed great academic success, and is the recent recipient of the grand prize for their school-wide Bullying Prevention Program by the Marcus Ruscitto Foundation. Propel HOMESTEAD was the first Propel school, opening in 2003 with 180 students in the basement of the old Homestead hospital. Since its humble beginnings, Propel Homestead now operates in a beautiful renovated school facility and has achieved outstanding success.

Propel McKEESPORT

Propel McKEESPORT opened in 2005 and serves 400 students in grades K-8. In March 2010, Propel McKEESPORT was named the single top performing elementary school from a nationwide consortium of charter schools that includes the recognized leaders such as KIPP, Aspire, and Uncommon Schools. It was the second consecutive year that Propel McKEESPORT received an Effective Practice Incentive Community (EPIC) Award from New Leaders for New Schools, receiving the award in the "Gold Gain" category. Gold Gain is EPIC's highest honor, awarding schools making the greatest gains with student achievement. In the 2010-11 school year, Propel McKeesport was again honored with an "EPIC" Award in the silver gain category recognizing student achievement.

Propel MONTOUR

Propel Montour opened in 2006 and is home to 400 students in grades K-8. The school is located in Kennedy Township, just north of the City of Pittsburgh. Propel MONTOUR was the 2009 recipient of the Charles Gray Award from the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, recognized for an outstanding arts education program. Propel MONTOUR is also a leader in technology integration, hosting Propel's annual Technology Fair, which is attended by educators from various school districts throughout the state. In 2011, Propel Montour received an Effective Practice Incentive Community (EPIC) Award from New Leaders for New Schools, in the "Silver Gain" category, recognizing Montour's significant gains in student achievement.

Propel NORTHSIDE

Propel NORTHSIDE opened in 2011 as the first Propel school in the city of Pittsburgh. Propel Northside will accept applications in grades K-8 for the 2015-16 school year.  Propel NORTHSIDE is the eighth Propel School in the greater Pittsburgh area.
