Propel Homestead STEM Integration Teacher Jeffrey Patrick has been named the recipient of the 2019 Carnegie Science Awards in the Elementary Educator category.
Mr. Patrick brings his passion for science, technology, engineering and computer science to his classroom. While creating innovative and exciting project-based learning assignments, he cultivates an environment that focuses on helping others and problem solving.
"I am proud of the experiences that I provide for my students on a daily basis,” says Mr. Patrick. “There is nothing more rewarding than the smiles, hugs, and positive interactions that I have with my students."
Mr. Patrick played a key role in Propel Homestead being certified in digital citizenship—a process that helps educators and parents to understand how students should use technology appropriately. Patrick said the recognition from the Carnegie Science Awards is important for his students as well.
"This award wasn’t earned by me alone. It earmarks the hard work that my students put in," he said. "Without my students and the teaching tools available that Propel Schools provides me, I couldn’t be considered for this award."
Established in 1997, Carnegie Science Awards have honored the accomplishments of nearly 600 individuals and organizations whose contributions in the fields of science, technology, and education significantly benefit Western Pennsylvania and inspire the next generation.
