FAMILY UPDATES
These family newsletters are packed with essential information for Propel Schools' families.
I am honored to serve you and your children, our scholars, as Superintendent/CEO. My time with Propel began in 2003 when we first opened our doors as a school of choice. At the time, I was a kindergarten teacher. Our scholars have taught me a lot over the years. Throughout those years, I have also learned that scholars do better academically when they have regular attendance.
At Propel Schools, we are committed to supporting your children academically, emotionally and socially so they can reach their full potential and be well-prepared for a lifetime of success. I am often asked by families how they can best support their scholars. My answer is always the same — by becoming involved and engaged with our school communities. Family participation is vital to keep our schools vibrant and strong. Your school's leadership team will be able to provide details about becoming involved with school activities and how to become a volunteer for school-based activities and other outreach opportunities.
Another crucial way to be involved and help ensure the educational success of your scholars is to understand that daily, on-time attendance is a vital part of success. Did you know that scholars with poor attendance in preschool, kindergarten and first grade are much less likely to read at grade level by third grade, which would make them four times more likely to drop out of high school? Scholars who attend school 95% of the time are one-and-a-half times more likely to be on track to graduate on time. Research shows that missing 2 or 3 days each month can add up to so much lost learning time in the classroom that children just can't keep up with academic work. Good habits developed now will be beneficial throughout your child's life. Make daily school attendance a priority for your scholars.
Our staff works tirelessly to make our schools a place where your child wants to come each and every day to challenge themselves, to socialize and to build the needed skills for a successful future. We engage in a Culture of Dignity that supports positive relationships between every scholar, educator and family. We value your voice. Please share your questions and concerns with your child's educators and school leadership teams.
Many outstanding things happen at our schools and we want to be sure you are in the loop. To make sure you receive all the latest information, we expect families to keep us updated if there is a change to your physical address, email address or telephone number. Also, be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn.
I'm excited to share this journey with you, and look forward to celebrating many successful achievements. Thank you for choosing US to be YOUR partner in education.
